A Murmuration
Bloggings been lite as we hit our winter rush but here’s something that just left me saying wow with feeling. A murmuration of starlings /merr’meuh ray”sheuhn/, n. 1. an act or instance of murmuring. 2. a flock of starlings. Enjoy. Murmuration from Sophie Windsor Clive on Vimeo.

A Weekend of Learning
Last weekend I was asked if I would like to go along to the very first Active Photographer Jolly, run by Giles (The Active Photographer) and Will (Whole Life Photography). It was designed for people passionate about the outdoors, who wanted to take better photos, or photographers with a keen interest in the outdoors. As this was the first one, Giles and Will were keen to simply see how things went and get feedback for [...]

Lulworth Cove to White Nothe beach along the South West Coast path
OK, I’m feeling a bit of a fraud after last nights post, but in my defence, stuff got cancelled tonight, so I have had a rare opportunity to sit down and blog. It’s been a funny old summer though, I’ve not had the chance to get out and about to do as much walking as I would ideally like to, but a couple of weeks ago, my friend Chris and I finally managed to head [...]

Empty posts
Forgive the lack of blogging again folks, but the reasons this time have been good ones, namely I have been out walking so much that I haven’t had the chance to write anything up about my latest jaunts. Two weekends saw me out along the South West coastal path with my good friend Chris, the weekend after saw me up at Monsal Head in the Peak District for a bloggers meet with Terry BND. I [...]

Feeling a bit Peaky
We’re away in the Peak District for a week, and I am majorly looking forward to this. Camping with the family, friends to meet, the bonus of Grandparents to babysit, a nights wild camping and lots of walks are on the cards. Shoulder height has dropped noticeably and it’s been a lovely morning so far catching up on outdoor blogs. Bliss. – Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone Location:Butts View,Bakewell,United Kingdom

Stealth Camping
Lightweight. It’s not a new mantra, but it has become an increasingly loud one within the outdoor community over the last few years. Whether you class yourself as someone who is looking to reduce their packweight, a lightweight backpacker, ultralightweight backpacker or supreme ultralight lightfantastic godlike backpacker, more and more people are gradually realising that the lighter your pack is, the further and longer you can walk for. I’m not sure about you, but whereas [...]

Don’t go to Mackintosh Davidson Woods. Honest.
We’ve got two mini explorers on board here at jonesnow, Ifor, who is just beginning to read maps, and has morasses of energy. Then there’s young Ellis, who loves animals & has no fear of anything. Most of our outdoor time is dedicated to these guys, so I’m going to try and write more about the routes we take with them. The routes as a result are short, so I’m going to keep my posts [...]

North Ridge of Tryfan
Having had an epic first day back in the hills the day before, I was looking forward to Sunday and meeting up with Sean. The day began with the sun gracing the hills opposite us, and we packed up quietly. Lauren headed off for a search exercise, and I was off to the North ridge of Tryfan. It still feels a little strange meeting people you have got to know from twitter, but having met [...]

Back in the land of my Father
I think that the ugliest numbers I have ever seen are the numbers 2,4 and 5. These were the numbers my phone flashed at me to let me know I didn’t need to bother trying to sleep any more. Sean would be outside at 3 am ready to pick me up. I dimly recall thinking that perhaps Snowdonia wasn’t such a good idea, but I humped my sacks in to the car and promptly fell [...]

Time to play tag
I am a little slow with blogging so forgive the lack of write up from Snowdonia last weekend, it is on its way, honest. This weekend though we have been playing with new toys. Having never been in to bikes before, we now have a seriously good collection of kids bike attachments. Let me introduce the elusive S H A D O W alleycat, according to Retro Bike it’s vintage and possibly the first [...]
